Ciel Rouge - meaning Red Sky - is a delicious new restaurant located on Victoria Street in Darlinghurst. Luxuriously appointed with deep red hues, enormous chandeliers, and cosy seating, Ciel Rouge's head chef Damien Wright serves up scrumptious contemporary fare with a French twist that will leave your tastebuds dancing. Friendly service and a great wine list is icing on the cake.
The owners Clive and Sue Delmenico, Ciel Rouge opened its doors in October 2005, on Victoria Street, Darlinghurst.
Ciel Rouge is inspired by a mixture of Clive and Sue's favourite
eateries and bars in New York where the couple lived for seven years. Clive
managed some of the city's hottest spots, most notably Link and Thalia. With
Ciel Rouge we have created a restaurant in Sydney with a great deco feel while
still being fun and relaxing.
Damien Wright – Head Chef
Ciel Rouge welcomes Damien Wright to the position of Head Chef. Damien has been with us since our opening and has 14 years experience working in both Australia and the UK.
Before joining Ciel Rouge Damien spent 12 months as sous chef at the 2-hat Pier Restaurant. Prior to that Damien was executive chef for the May Corporation, which included the Light brigade Hotel and the Manly Wharf Hotel where he created both the dining room and bar menus.
Damien was fortunate to spend 3 years working in London with 18 months spent at the 2 Michelin star Pied a Terre under the guidance of the infamous Tom Aitkins and 12 months at the 1 Michelin star Chez Bruce, where he refined his skills in French Cuisine under Bruce Poole’s philosophy of quality food served in an informal environment.
Damien has created a contemporary menu with a French twist. Using classic techniques Damien maintains our goal of serving high quality, fresh produce in our comfortable, relaxed dining room and bar.
